history

Rückershausen is mentioned for the first time in a document from the years 1213 to 1215 and refers to the mill of the Seligenstatt monastery (municipality of Seck / Westerwald) in Rückershausen (Rukershusen), which is also documented later. Although this document is undated, it can be narrowed down to the years 1213 to 1215.

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the previously independent municipalities of Rückershausen, Allendorf , Barig-Selbenhausen , Merenberg and Reichenborn merged voluntarily on December 31, 1970 to form the new large municipality of Merenberg .
