The classes each contested up to twelve different races nationwide, with Juniors and Masters starting together, as is common practice in other countries. In the men's class, only teams with at least four U23 drivers were allowed to start.
This season, the men's "Müller - Die lila Logistik Rad-Bundesliga" competed for the first time for a special orange jersey that was awarded to the best rider who was not a member of one of the sports groups not registered with the UCI. "We want to address drivers from the clubs and racing communities who do not have a license with a Continental team or above," explains BDR Vice President Günter Schabel.
A total of 100 athletes were admitted to the master classes, both individual drivers and teams. All athletes born in 1977 or older were eligible to start.
