Reinhold von Briesen

Amos Hermann Reinhold von Briesen (born March 31, 1805 in Grünberg in Silesia , † June 28, 1882 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Reinhold was a son of the Prussian captain and vice director of Grünberg Gottlob von Briesen (1763-1824) and his wife Karoline Friederike, née Ehrlich (1770-1809).

Military career

Briesen visited the Berlin Cadet House and on April 13, 1823 was transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a Second Lieutenant . In 1829/32 he served as a battalion adjutant, was commanded to the training infantry battalion in 1836 and promoted to prime lieutenant in mid-October 1836 . In the year Briesen was deployed with his regiment in the riots in Cologne to restore public order. By the end of January 1844, he was promoted to captain and company commander . In this capacity he took part in the suppression of the revolutionary unrest in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Elberfeld during the March Revolution .

Briesen was promoted to major on March 15, 1851, as commander of the 2nd battalion in the 15th Landwehr Regiment in Bielefeld . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in mid-October 1856 and served as battalion commander in the 15th Infantry Regiment from December 23, 1856 to November 21, 1858 . Subsequently charged him under position à la suite first with the leadership of the 34th Infantry Regiment (2nd Reserve Regiment) in Mainz and appointed him on May 31, 1859 Colonel commander of this association . In this capacity, Briesen received on December 8, 1861 the Commander-in-Chief of the Second Class of the Order of Philip the Magnanimous with Swords. When mobilizing on the occasion of the German War , he was made available to the Army High Command on June 15, 1866, and on July 8, 1866, he was sent to Dresden as the first commander . On November 20, 1866, he was released from his position and awarded the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. He died on June 28, 1882 in Wiesbaden.

family

Briesen married on September 15, 1830 in Düsseldorf Jeanette von Ammon (1806–1895), a daughter of the war and domain councilor Johann Georg Ferdinand von Ammon († 1814). The couple had several children:
