Ricky Fataar
Ricky Fataar (born September 5, 1952 in Durban , South Africa ) is a South African drummer. He became known through his membership in the Beach Boys and as a member of the fictional band The Rutles .
Life
Fataar was from 1965, like Blondie Chaplin , a member of the band The Flames. In 1968 he moved to England and, after the breakup, performed with the Beach Boys between 1972 and 1974. He played on the recordings for So Tough , Holland and In Concert , wrote some songs for them and also produced them. In 1974 he left the band, but was still in contact with Dennis Wilson . He can be found as a studio musician on some Beach Boys albums.
In 1978, Fataar starred in the mockumentary film All You Need Is Cash , better known as The Rutles . This parodies the history of the real existing band The Beatles . His role was Stig O'Hara, the band's lead guitarist (analogous to George Harrison). He later worked as a studio and tour musician, including with jazz guitarist John Scofield .
