Rivers of Nihil is an American technical death metal band from Reading , Pennsylvania that was formed in 2009.
history
The band was formed in 2009 and consisted of singer Jake Dieffenbach, drummer Ron Nelson and guitarist Jon Kunz. The first appearances followed before bassist and singer Adam Biggs and guitarist Brody Uttley joined the cast. In 2010 and 2011 the first two EPs followed with Hierarchy and Temporality Unbound , as well as further appearances. The band went on tour through the east coast of the United States and the Midwest . The band also took part in the Midwest Fuckfest and played with groups like Dying Fetus , Misery Index and Arsis . The band also played at Akron Deathfest together with Complete Failure . To promote the EPs, the band also held tours, playing with Suffocation , The Faceless , Despised Icon , Revocation , Beneath the Massacre , Dysrhythmia , Decapitated , Six Feet Under and Decrepit Birth . The band played more than 50 gigs. In the summer of 2012, contract negotiations with Metal Blade Records began before the band signed a contract with the label in September. In March 2013 the band went to Mana Recording Studios in Saint Petersburg , Florida with Erik Rutan to record their debut album The Conscious Seed of Light . which appeared in October of the same year. In August, the band went on tour with Allegaeon , Abiotic and Wretched . At the end of October a tour began with Abiotic, Dying Fetus, Exhumed and Devourment . The band's second studio album, Monarchy , was released in August 2015. The third studio album, Where Owls Know My Name was released on March 16, 2018.
