Rob Mayth (born February 5, 1984 in Hagen ; real name Robin Brandes ) is a German DJ and hands-up producer. He also produces under the pseudonyms Dave Darell , Red Light District , Active One , Aunt Mary and Chasing and is part of the Rob & Chris project and various other electronic dance music projects .
Life
Robin Brandes grew up in a musical family in Hagen and began taking piano lessons at the age of 8. He later switched to computers because the piano was n't what he was looking for. In 1996 he started with music programs like Dance Machine or Magix Music Maker .
So he finally switched to other programs, such as Fruity Loops , with which he produced tracks for Thunderdome and melodic hardcore pieces - music styles that are sometimes very different from his music today. He then published these tracks on homepages such as MyOwnMusic (formerly GTmusic.de ) or Virtual-Volume and made them accessible to a wider audience. He took the feedback to heart and soon recorded his first demo CD, which he requested from several music labels , but it was never released.
After a while he got to know the producer Waveliner over the Internet and played him his demo CD. Both founded the duo Waveliner vs. Rob Mayth . They released their first track under the title Harder Than Ever , which already reached number 11 on the Discomania sales charts in the first week. The track stayed in the German DJ playlist for 5 weeks. The follow-up track Children of XTC was also successful.
Brandes soon released his first own single, Can I Get A Witness, under his stage name Rob Mayth on Mental Madness Records . As a remixer he made new arrangements for Special D. , Cascada , Groove Coverage , Sven-RG vs. Bass-T and other artists. In addition, he produces other side projects such as u. a. Pimp! Code, Katie Jewels, Straight Flush or Dave Darell.
Robin Brandes mainly produces hands up , but also incorporates hardstyle elements into his music . Sometimes special DJ techniques are used in his productions. Scratches , especially stabs, can be heard frequently , for example in his remix of the Floorfilla song Sister Golden Hair . As Dave Darell , he also produces electro and trance.
