Rocks is the fourth studio album by the American hard rock band Aerosmith . It was released on Columbia Records in May 1976 .
Origin and style
After the great success of the previous album Toys in the Attic , Aerosmith Rocks recorded again in early 1976 with Jack Douglas as a producer in New York City. Overall, the album is less influenced by blues-rock elements and moves more towards hard rock and heavy metal.
With Last Child , Home Tonight , Rats in the Cellar and Back in the Saddle , four songs from the album were released as singles.
reception
Rocks reached number three on the Billboard 200 charts in the United States and sold over a million times in the year of publication. In 2001 it achieved four times platinum status .

Former Guns-N'-Roses guitarist Slash , Metallica singer James Hetfield and former guitarist and singer for Nirvana Kurt Cobain described the album as a formative musical influence in their youth.
