Roland Kaspitz (born November 1, 1981 in Spittal an der Drau ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player who was active for many years in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League for EC VSV , HC Innsbruck , EC Graz 99ers and HDD Olimpija Ljubljana . Since 2017 he has been playing for the amateur club ELV Zauchen in the Carinthian Division II-Mitte.

Kaspitz began his career in the youth team of the EC VSV , where he started playing in the Bundesliga regularly at the age of 18 and was Austrian champion for the first time in 2002 . After five years the striker moved to HC Innsbruck for one season , then returned to VSV and won a second championship title with the Villach team in 2006. In 2007, 2008 and 2009 he was elected to the league's all-star team, in 2010 he was the best preparer and second-best scorer in the league behind Eric Healey . In twelve Bundesliga seasons, Kaspitz played 515 games and scored 363 points. In September 2012, the native Austrian moved to the reigning German second division champion Landshut Cannibals . In the 2013/14 season he first played in Sweden with Asplöven HC and then in Austria with the Graz 99ers . After exactly 10 years he returned to HC Innsbruck, where he completed the 2014/15 season. After playing the basic round of the Austrian Bundesliga in 2015/16 with the Slovenian club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , he returned to the Graz 99ers for the qualification round in January 2016. The following season he moved to the Lyon Hockey Club in the French Ligue Magnus .

International

In the junior division, Kaspitz played for Austria at the U18-C European Championship in 1998 and the U18-B World Championship in 1999 as well as the U20-C World Championship in 2000 and the U20 World Championship in Division I in 2001 .

In the men's national team , he made his debut on November 9, 2001 in a 4-2 win in a friendly against Italy in Grenoble, France . He took part in the top division World Championships in 2002 , 2004 , 2005 , 2009 and 2011 . After relegations in the meantime, he joined Division I in 2006 , 2008 and 2010 , with an immediate return to the top division. He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 and in Vancouver in 2010 .
