history
The first documented form of place names dates from 1305 as Rodynphurde . The core of the church in Rothenfurth is pre-Reformation. Its original form is believed to be a late Romanesque, unadorned building with small windows. The laying of the foundation stone is not documented, but is assumed around the year 1320 with the expansion of mining activities in this area. In the course of mining, the "Isaak" and " St. Anna and Old Fathers " pits were built southeast of Rothenfurth on the Freiberg Mulde, which belong to the Halsbrücker Revier within the Freiberg mining area.
August Schumann mentions Rothenfurth in 1822 in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony regarding a. a .:
“[...] a medium-sized church village at the southernmost end of the Königigl. Saxon. District Office Meissen , belongs with both kinds of courts to the [...] old-script manor Bieberstein , [...] Rothenfurth also understands several, on former mountain heaps a. s. w. built houses, which are inhabited by miners, and are under the Bergamte Freiberg. [...] The navigable Churprinzencanal stretches along the entire village, but separated from it by the hollow . […] The entire place contains around 90 houses around 550 residents; [...] A lot of the population live from mining and lace making ; There is also a mill here […], a hereditary dish with an inn, and the like. s. f. The church is the branch of the ¼ hour distant from Großschirma, and there is nothing parish about it. The schoolmaster position is awarded by the church council. [...] Among the inhabitants are 18 farmers, including the Erbgericht with 3 Hufen , 8 gardeners , 2 mills and 26 cottagers . - The three local union Day buildings, called Isaak, are, along with the Anna and Altväter colliery house, subject to the jurisdiction of the Freiberg Mining Authority. "
In 1849 large windows and a sacristy were added to the church. The preserved bell dates from 1891 and the Jahn organ from 1868. Between 1986 and 1989 the church building was extensively restored.
From 1551, the manorial rule over Rothenfurth was verifiably with the manor Bieberstein . Until 1836 Rothenfurth belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon District Office of Meißen . The place was in the extreme southwest of the office. The Freiberger Mulde formed the border with the Freiberg district office , to which the village of Großschirma on the other bank belonged. From 1836 Rothenfurth briefly belonged to the Freiberg district office. In 1856 Rothenfurth and its part of the municipality Teichhäuser were affiliated to the Freiberg judicial office and in 1875 to the Freiberg district administration.
On July 1, 1950, Rothenfurth was incorporated into Großschirma. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Rothenfurth came as a district of Großschirma in 1952 to the Freiberg district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Freiberg from 1990 and was added to the district of Central Saxony in 2008.
