Rudolf Felix Joseph von Groote (born November 9, 1858 in Bonn ; † May 10, 1922 in Maria Laach Abbey ) was the Royal District Administrator of the Rheinbach district and Upper President of the Rhine Province .

Childhood and youth

Rudolf Felix Joseph von Groote was the son of the then Court Assessors and later the Royal Prussian Secret Government Council of Groote Felix (1828-1889) and his wife Maria Theresia Josepha Simons had married. 1856 From this marriage he had 7 younger siblings. After his mother, while treating children with typhoid fever in Ahrweiler, fell ill with typhoid and died as a result, his father married again. From the 2nd marriage with Anna Katharina geb. Hasslacher, a daughter of the Aachen police director Franz Carl Hasslacher , von Groote had 7 other half-siblings. He grew up in Ahrweiler and graduated from the Catholic high school in Bad Münstereifel in 1878 . From 1878 to 1881 he mainly studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Berlin and Bonn . He is doing his legal traineeship at the district courts of Koblenz and Bonn.

Career

Around 1883, von Groote switched to an administrative career. His legal traineeship led him to the government in Düsseldorf , Stettin and Berlin . Here he met Dr. Know Steinmeister , the later district president of Cologne. In 1887 Groote became a government assessor in Trier . In April 1888 he was first acting district administrator of the Rheinbach district, which was followed by the final appointment as district administrator on January 1, 1889. On the 25th anniversary of his service, he was the first to be made an honorary citizen of Rheinbach . In 1908 Rudolf von Groote was elected chairman of the Rhineland Chamber of Agriculture and on April 26, 1918, he was finally appointed President of the Rhine Province . In 1922 he died at a conference in Maria Laach Monastery.

Since July 24, 1888, von Groote was born with Clara. Stein (1863–1952), whose first son was born in Rheinbach in 1889. In 1920 the family had to vacate the official apartment that had been confiscated by the French occupiers and became a guest at the Prince House in Neuwied .

The grandparents of Grootes on his father's side were the Cologne church administration lawyer Joseph von Groote and his wife Auguste Margaretha nee. Schaaffhausen, who was a daughter of the Cologne banker Abraham Schaaffhausen .
