Sakuragawa ( Japanese 桜 川 市 , -shi ) is a city in Ibaraki Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .
Sakuragawa is known for its many stonemasons.

The city is located north of Mount Tsukuba on the Sakuragawa River of the same name .
history
The community emerged on October 1, 2005 from the amalgamation of the municipalities of Iwase and Makabe and the village of Yamato.

Sakuragawa is about 80 km from Tōkyō by train and can be reached on the JR Mito line . Train stops from Oyama are Yamato, Iwase and Haguro.
