Ushiku ( Japanese 牛久市 , - shi ) is a city in Japan in Ibaraki Prefecture .

history

Ushiku received city rights on June 1, 1986 .

Ushiku Daibutsu is located in Ushiku , one of the tallest Buddha statues in the world.

From the city, the national road 6 leads to Tōkyō and Sendai , and the city is connected to the national road 408. By train, you can take the JR Jōban Line to Tōkyō and Sendai.

Ushiku is bordered by Tsukuba , Tsuchiura, and Ryugasaki .
