Hitachinaka is south of Hitachi and north of Mito .
history
The natural disaster of the Tōhoku earthquake on March 11, 2011 with the subsequent tsunami claimed three lives in Hitachinaka. 86 residential buildings were completely destroyed and 801 others were partially destroyed.
