The Scandinavian Masters (since 2019 Scandinavian Invitation ) are an annual golf tournament on the European Tour that is held in Sweden at the end of July / beginning of August . The date of the event will be moved to June for the first time in 2012. The tournament takes place from June 6th (the Swedish national holiday) to June 9th, 2012 in the week before the US Open . The starting date on a Wednesday is unusual.
The tournament has its roots in the Volvo Open of the late 1960s, which became the Scandinavian Enterprise Open (SEO) in 1973, the first European golf tournament in Sweden. In 1991 the SEO merged with the PLM Open , from which the so-called Scandinavian Masters emerged. The Scandinavian Masters are the only event on the European Tour that takes place in Scandinavia . The prize money in 2013 was 1.5 million euros, making the tournament one of the lowest prizes on the European continent.
