Schachen is a district of the Upper Swabian market Ottobeuren .

geography

The Schachen wasteland is about three kilometers west of Ottobeuren. The place is connected to the main town via a country road.

history

Chess 2010

In 1449 a dispute between the Schachenhof and the Eymühle is recorded in the files. It was about the so-called large mowing that lay between Benningen and Herbishofen . In 1479 Ludwig von Rothenstein was the owner of Schachen. Shortly afterwards the hamlet came into the possession of the Ottobeuren monastery . There is a small power station in Schachen that used to supply Schachen, Brüchlins , Wolferts and Niebers with electricity. The Schachenweiher serves the population in the area as a destination for excursions and a swimming lake.
