Scheddis is part of the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends .

history

The place name Scheddis has been known as the name for this place since around 1820. The place name is derived from the Lower Sorbian word "pśedejsy", which means "Vordorf" or "in front of the village" and thus indicates the location of the place. When the place came into being is unclear, but it could be identical to the village of Klein Loben , which fell in the 16th century. In 1825 there were 18 fireplaces in Scheddis .

Scheddis was always subordinate to the manor Groß Lübbenau and parish there. The place initially belonged to the district of Calau in the administrative district of Frankfurt in the Prussian province of Brandenburg . After the end of the Second World War, the place came into the Soviet occupation zone and from October 7, 1949 into the GDR . During the GDR district reform of July 25, 1952, the community of Groß Lübbenau was assigned to the district of Calau in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , the Calau district merged with the Senftenberg district as part of the district reform in December 1993 to form today's Oberspreewald-Lausitz district . On October 26, 2003, the community of Groß Lübbenau was incorporated into Lübbenau / Spreewald with the part of the village Scheddis .
