The Scottish Football League Third Division was held under this name for the ninth time in 2002/03 . It was also the ninth edition of the Third Division as only fourth highest Scottish league . In the fourth-highest division of men's football in Scotland , 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 matchdays in the 2002/03 season. Each team played four times against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .

The championship won Greenock Morton , which together with the table runner-up FC East Fife , secured participation in the 2003/04 Second Division season . The top scorer with 23 goals was Alex Williams of Greenock Morton.

1After the bankruptcy of Airdrieonians FC from the First Division at the end of the 2001/02 season , a place in the Scottish Football League remained free, which FC Gretna took over from the Highland Football League .
