The Scottish Football League Third Division was played under this name for the first time in 1994/95 . It was also the very first and only fourth highest Scottish league . In the fourth-highest division of men’s football in Scotland , 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 matchdays in the 1994/95 season. Each team played four times against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .

It was the first season in which the 3-point rule applied. The championship was won by Forfar Athletic , which together with the table runner-up FC Montrose , secured participation in the 1995/96 Second Division season . The top scorer with 23 goals was Mark Yardley of Cowdenbeath FC .
