The Scottish Football League Third Division was held under this name for the sixth time in 1999/2000 . It was also the sixth edition of the Third Division as only fourth highest Scottish league . In the fourth-highest division of men's football in Scotland , 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 matchdays in the 1999/2000 season. Each team played four times against each other team. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .

The championship was won by FC Queen's Park , who secured themselves together with the table runner-up and third, the Berwick Rangers and Forfar Athletic to participate in the 2000/01 Second Division season . The top scorer with 17 goals was Steven Milne of Forfar Athletic.
