history

Sernow was first mentioned in a document in 1205. The place name, which comes from Slavic, means "settlement near the water mill". In 1601, due to its location on the road from Jüterbog to Dahme , Sernow was a secondary customs office from Luckenwalde until it was moved to Jüterbog in 1680. In 1740 the place burned down completely. After the reconstruction in 1830, 157 inhabitants lived in Sernow, these families were ten farmers, five Kossäts , three Büdner and 34 Hüfner.

Until 1952, Sernow belonged to the district of Luckenwalde (until 1946 Jüterbog-Luckenwalde ), after which the community was reclassified to the district of Jüterbog in the Potsdam district . After the Brandenburg district reform in December 1993, the municipality of Sernow was located in the Teltow-Fläming district . On December 31, 1997, Sernow merged with 13 other communities to form the Niederer Fläming community, which has been part of the Dahme / Mark district since January 2018 .

Attractions

  • The village church Sernow on the village green was built in the 14th century as a field stone building. The brick tower dates from 1887. In the early 1950s, the village church was renovated.
