Snamenka ( Russian Зна́менка ) is an urban-type settlement in the Oryol Oblast ( Russia ) with 12,002 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

Znamenka belongs to Rajon Oryol , located just 10 km southwest of the center of the city of Oryol , the administrative center of the oblast and Rajons. Not far from the settlement the left tributary Zon flows into the Oka .

history

Not far from the old village of Snamenka, a prefabricated housing estate of the same name was built in the early 1970s on the south-western arterial road of the city ​​of Oryol , which was given the status of urban-type settlement in 1975.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are various farms in Snamenka, including an experimental farm of the Orjol Agricultural Research Institute, as well as farms in the food industry.

The southwestern arterial road from Oryol in the direction of Kursk  - Belgorod runs through the settlement, to the east the bypass road around Oryol, the M2 trunk road , part of the European route 105 from Moscow to the Ukrainian border in the direction of Kharkiv . Shared taxis (“ marshrutkas ”) operate between Znamka and Oryol .
