Chomutowo ( Russian Хомутово ) is an urban-type settlement in the Oryol Oblast in Russia with 4231 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is nearly 100km straight line east of Oblastverwaltungszentrums Oryol , a few kilometers from the right bank of the Ljubowscha in the catchment area of the Don -Nebenflusses Bystraja Sosna removed.
Chomutowo is the administrative center of the Rajons Nowoderewenkowski and seat and only town of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Chomutowo.
history
The place was created around 1870 in connection with the construction of the Orjol - Jelez railway line , when a station was opened there and named after a nearby hamlet. The settlement initially belonged to the Ujesd Nowosil of the Tula governorate .
On January 18, 1935, Khomutowo became the administrative seat of a newly created Rajons named after him. During the Second World War , the place was taken by the German Wehrmacht in mid-November 1941 , but was recaptured by the Red Army around December 20, 1941 .
Since December 19, 1972, the place has the status of an urban-type settlement.

Khomutovo has a train station at kilometer 108 of the Oryol - Jelets - Lipetsk - Grjasi railway line , which opened in 1870 .
The regional road 54K-6 runs through the settlement and follows the railway line from Salegoschtsch via Verkhovye to Krasnaya Zarya . In a northerly direction, the 54K-14 branches off into the neighboring district center of Korsakowo ; After about 15 km, this crosses the 54A-1 Oryol - Novosil - border to Tula Oblast (towards Jefremow ), which is still under construction in parts (as of 2015 ).
