Verkhovye has a train station at kilometer 92 of the Oryol - Jelez - Lipetsk  - Grjasi railway line, which opened on this section in 1870 . In a southerly direction, a line branches off via Liwny to Possjolok imeni Lenina ( Marmyschi station ) in Kursk Oblast . This was opened in 1871 to Liwny as one of the first longer narrow-gauge railways in the Russian Empire , but at the end of the 1890s it was converted from the original Cape gauge to broad gauge and extended to Marmyschi.

Regional road 54K-6 runs through the settlement from Salegoschtsch to Khomutowo and Krasnaya Sarja . In a south-westerly direction there is a connection to the federal trunk road R119 Oryol - Lipetsk  - Tambov near Pokrovskoye via the 54K-4 , as well as via the 54K-5, which follows the railway line to Livny.
