Kolpna ( Russian Колпна́ ) is an urban-type settlement in the Oryol Oblast in Russia with 6,614 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The village is about 100 km in a straight line to the southeast of Oblastverwaltungszentrums Oryol on the right Don creek Bystraja Sosna .

Kolpna is the administrative center of the Rajons Kolpnjanski and seat and only town of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Kolpna.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1150. In 1861 he was Kolpny administrative seat of a Volost des Ujesds Maloarchangelsk in the Orjol governorate .

On July 30, 1928 Kolpny became the administrative seat of a newly created Rajons named after him. During the Second World War , the front line came to a standstill in front of Kolpny at the end of 1941, until the place could be captured by the Wehrmacht during the German summer offensive in late June 1942 . On February 4, 1943, the Red Army recaptured the place.

In 1960 Kolpny received the status of an urban-type settlement. Since the creation of the municipality in its current form on January 1, 2006, the name Kolpna has been official, which corresponds to an old variant and was always used alternatively.

In Kolpna the station is Kolpny, endpoint of 1899 opened 59 km long branch line, the west near the station Ochotschowka of Shchigry of the route Kursk  - Voronezh branches.

The regional road 54K-8 runs through the settlement from Glasunowka via Maloarchangelsk to the southeastern neighboring district of Dolgoje . To the north there is a connection to the federal trunk road R119 Oryol - Lipetsk  - Tambov via the 54K-11 at Droskowo, 30 km away . The 54K-127 leads south to the border of Kursk Oblast , 15 km away , from where it continues in the direction of Shchigry.
