South Bradenton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Manatee County in the US state of Florida with 22,178 inhabitants (as of 2010).

South Bradenton borders directly on the city of Bradenton to the north and is approximately 60 km south of Tampa . The CDP is crossed and tangent to by the Tamiami Trail ( US 41 ) and Florida State Roads 70 and 684 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 22,178 inhabitants were distributed over 13,057 households. The population density was 1911.9 inh / km². 77.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 9.2% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 7.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.9% to several ethnic groups. 20.8% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 37.5% of all households lived in 22.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 51.3% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.10 people and the average family size was 2.81 people.

22.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 29.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 48.0% of the population were male and 52.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 30,716, with 23.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 88.82% of the population, 7.57% spoke Spanish and 3.61% had another mother tongue.
