Holmes Beach is a city in Manatee County in the US state of Florida with 3836 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Holmes Beach is located on a barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico and borders the cities of Anna Maria (in the north) and Bradenton Beach (in the south). The city is about 10 km west of Bradenton and about 80 km south of Tampa .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 3836 inhabitants were distributed among 4278 households, most of which are holiday homes used as second homes. The population density was 737.7 inh / km². 97.6% of the population identified themselves as whites, 0.1% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.7% as Asian Americans . 0.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.7% to several ethnic groups. 2.7% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 50.8% of all households lived in 10.5% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 56.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.90 people and the average family size was 2.36 people.
10.2% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 10.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 51.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 61 years. 48.1% of the population were male and 51.9% were female.
The median annual income was $ 50,575, with 13.3% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.24% of the population, 2.94% spoke Spanish and 2.82% had another mother tongue.
