Ellenton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Manatee County in the US state of Florida with 4275 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Ellenton is on the north bank of the Manatee River and borders the towns of Palmetto and Bradenton . The CDP is traversed or tangent to Interstate 75 and US Highway 301 and is located about 50 km south of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 4275 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1882 households. The population density was 450.0 inh / km². 68.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 6.9% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 20.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.3% to several ethnic groups. 31.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 31.3% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 35.6% of all households. 68.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.97.

26.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 49.4% of the population were male and 50.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 34,561, with 36.8% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 91.31% of the population, and Spanish was spoken by 8.61%.
