The St. Louis Walk of Fame honors people in St. Louis , Missouri who have made contributions to United States culture . All those admitted there were either born in the greater St. Louis area and spent their formative or creative years there. The contributions of the recorded people can come from many areas, such as drama, entertainment, music, sports, art, architecture, broadcasting, journalism, science, education or literature.

history

The "Walk of Fame" was founded in 1989. In April 2014, the St. Louis Walk of Fame had 137 brass stars and bronze plaques, each containing the name of the person admitted and a summary of his or her achievements. The stars and boards are embedded in the sidewalks of Delmar Boulevard in the "Delmar Loop area", a suburb of St. Louis.

Selection process

Anyone can submit a nomination; it must also describe the performance and the connection of the candidate to St. Louis. About 30 to 40 finalists from the nominees will be selected by the founder and director of the "Walk of Fame" and chosen by a selection committee from 120 residents of St. Louis. The selection committee includes, for example, Chancellors of St. Louis universities, representatives from cultural organizations and historical societies, media representatives, journalists, and other citizens with an in-depth understanding of the cultural heritage of St. Louis. Until 2007, the admission ceremony always took place in the third week of May, after which the date was agreed with the admitted.
