Sankt Oswald-Möderbrugg with the district Unterzeiring is a former municipality with 1157 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the judicial district of Judenburg , district of Murtal , state of Styria in Austria .

As part of the Styrian community structural reform , it has been merged with the communities of Bretstein , Sankt Johann am Tauern and Oberzeiring since 2015 . The new community is called Marktgemeinde Pölstal . The basis for this was the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act (StGsrG).

geography

St. Oswald-Möderbrugg is located approx. 17 km northwest of Judenburg in the Pölstal valley between the Wölzer and Rottenmanner Tauern , as well as the Seckauer Tauern and the Seetal Alps .

The former municipal area comprised the following two localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

  • Möderbrugg (625)
  • Saint Oswald (463)

The former community consisted of the cadastral communities Möderbrugg and St. Oswald.

Climate:

The two main towns in the municipality have a favorable climate and are free of fog all year round and are therefore a popular holiday destination.

history

The political community St. Oswald was formed in 1849/50. On June 1, 1951, the name of the municipality was changed to St. Oswald-Möderbrugg .

On December 31, 2014, the previously independent municipality was dissolved due to the Styrian municipal structural reform and merged with the previously independent municipalities of Bretstein, Sankt Johann am Tauern and Oberzeiring to form the new municipality of Pölstal.

According to the 2001 census of workplaces , there were 50 workplaces with 373 employees in the municipality as well as 291 out-commuters and 192 in-commuters. There were 77 agricultural and forestry holdings (35 of them in the main occupation), which together cultivated 6,171 hectares (as of 1999).

  • Parish Church St. Oswald:

The two-nave, late Gothic parish church was built in 1468-1476, on a side altar is a remarkable Rococo - Pietà . Interior with mesh vault.

The municipal council , which was dissolved on December 31, 2014, consisted of 15 members after the municipal council election in 2010 and consisted of the following mandataries: 8 ÖVP and 7 SPÖ .

Mayor was Ewald Haingartner (ÖVP).
