Stanisław Błażej Krzesiński (born February 3, 1950 in Białobrzegi , Masovian Voivodeship ) is a former Polish wrestler .

Career

Stanisław Krzesiński began wrestling as a teenager in Radom in 1965 . Until 1968 he started for a wrestling club in Radom and then moved to the top Polish club GKS Kattowitz . He focused entirely on the Greco-Roman style and was trained by Michał Kosno, Jan Adamaszek and Janus Tracewski. In 1971 he was the first Polish welterweight champion. He also won this title in 1973, 1974 and 1976.

In 1971 he also made his debut at an international championship and came thereby at the World Welterweight Championship in Sofia with victories over Abdelhamid Abdeljelil from Tunisia , Sirri Acar from Turkey , Gary Neist from the United States and Eero Tapio from Finland and defeats against Viktor Igumenov from the USSR and Boris Butrakow from Bulgaria on a good 5th place.

In 1972 he started at the Olympic Games in Munich and came in the welterweight division to a point victory over the Japanese Jichiiro Date, wrestled against Werner Schröter from the Federal Republic of Germany . He was defeated by the Swede Jan Karlsson and had thus scored six points that forced him to retire. He finished 11th overall.

In 1973 Stanisław Krzesiński again reached a good 5th place at the European Championships in Helsinki . He defeated Adrian Florin Popa from Romania , Ferenc Kocsis from Hungary , Vojislav Tabacki from Yugoslavia and Pentti Salo from Finland . He was only defeated by Klaus-Peter Göpfert from the GDR . However, this defeat threw him out of the race shortly before reaching the medal positions. At the world championship of the same year in Tehran , he came only to a victory over Hashem Ghanbari from Iran and a draw against Kung Young-shik from South Korea and thus finished 10th.

In the next two years he reached 6th place at the 1974 European welterweight championship in Madrid , 7th place at the 1974 world championship in Katowice and only 11th place in the welterweight division at the 1975 European championship in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In two of these championships he lost again to Klaus-Peter Göpfert , who developed into his fearful opponent.

1976 Stanisław Krzesiński took part in Montreal for the second time in the Olympic Games. There he only managed to win over Cuban Idalberto Barkam and lost to Mikko Huhtala from Finland and Klaus-Peter Göpfert and came in 11th.

The best result in an international championship he then achieved at the European Championships in 1977 in Bursa . In welterweight he won over Mihály Toma from Hungary, Giorgios Kostandopoulos from Greece , Karoly Kasap from Yugoslavia and Ion Ciobotaru from Romania. These four victories were not enough to win a medal after defeats against Iwan Schopow from Bulgaria and Klaus-Peter Göpfert . He only took the ungrateful 4th place.

In his further career he achieved the following placements: 10th place at the World Championships in Gothenburg , where he lost a. a. also against the young German Karl-Heinz Helbing from Mainz , 8th place at the European championship in Oslo , 6th place at the world championship in Mexico City and 10th place at the world championship in San Diego .

Then Stanisław Krzesiński ended his wrestling career. He graduated from the Sport University AWF Katowice and was throughout his coaching career coach to many top Polish wrestlers as Bogdan Daras , Andrzej Głąb , Andrzej Malina , Piotr Stepien , Roman Wroclaw , Ryszard Wolny , Wlodzimierz Zawadski and Andrzej Wroński , several of which Olympic champions , world - and became European champions.

In 1984 he performed a heroic deed at the European Championships in Jönköping . He was there as a Polish trainer and overpowered an apparently mentally deranged 35-year-old man who suddenly jumped on the mat with his gun drawn and threatened athletes and spectators.
