State Treasurer of Arizona
The State Treasurer of Arizona is one of the constitutional offices of the State of Arizona .
The State Treasurer's duties in the state of Arizona include serving as the chief banker and investment bureau of Arizona. The Treasurer's Office administers the state's annual revenue, directs state banking services, and manages the Arizona state's investment portfolio. The treasurer is also a member of the boards of a number of public bodies. He is one of seven constitutional offices elected at the state level.
The drafters of the Arizona state constitution put a term limit on the post of state treasurer in the state constitution. Originally, the State Treasurer's term of office was two years and subsequent re-election was not possible. Therefore, the Democrats J. W. Kelly and ET Williams junior ran alternately for the post of State Treasurer in the elections between 1948 and 1958 in order to circumvent this provision in the state constitution. In the following period, the state constitution of Arizona was adjusted. The State Treasurer's term has been extended to four years with the possibility of subsequent re-election. The scheme came into force at the 1970 election.
