Stedten is a district of the municipality of Seegebiet Mansfelder Land and is located on the Weida in the southeasternmost tip of the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .
history
Stedten is one of the oldest settlements in the Mansfeld region. In a resulting 881 to 899 directory of the tithe of the monastery Hersfeld ( Hersfeld tithe directory ) Stedten is as tenth place requiring Stedi in Fries field first mentioned.
Agriculture was originally the main source of income for the population. With the increasing influence of mining, Stedten developed more and more into an industrial village and the population rose steadily. Several pits and opencast mines were opened as early as the 19th century . In 1913 a briquette factory was built , which was closed in 1994 and marked the end of mining in the town.
Today only extensive depressions and spoil heaps testify to the former opencast mines. A lot of money and energy was invested in the reforestation of the damaged landscape, and cycling and hiking trails were created. An extensive recreational area awaits the visitor at the moment.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipalities of Stedten, Amsdorf , Aseleben , Erdeborn , Hornburg , Lüttchendorf , Neehausen , Röblingen am See , Seeburg and Wansleben am See merged to form the lake district of Mansfelder Land. At the same time, the administrative community Seegebiet Mansfelder Land , to which Stedten belonged, was dissolved.
