Begleitinnen is a German television film by Peter Kahane from 2012. It is the forty-third film in the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

Financial advisor Maximilian Wehmann calls his wife off because he supposedly has to go to Zurich for two days at short notice. Both Marina Blaschke and her son Bruno know that this is not true, but that he is meeting a woman. On the same day he was found shot dead in the underground car park of a hotel. The commissioners Stubbe and Zimmermann initially assume robbery and murder and look around the hotel. There they meet Marina Blaschke, whom he had booked as an escort service and whom the man's death clearly takes away. Wife Celine, on the other hand, reacted calmly to the news of her death and stated that she did not care whether her husband had cheated on her, they had loved one another. Professionally, the victim did not have any problems either, because as a financial advisor he had several customers who held him responsible for their financial situation. The boatman Jens Stemmler, who was advised completely wrongly by Wehmann, led a real campaign. When he learns of his death, he realizes that he will not get his money back from him. So he tries to put his widow under pressure so that she can repair the damage her husband has caused. But she calls the police without further ado, by which Stemmler is then arrested. She learns from Stubbe that her husband has probably transferred a large amount of money abroad and Zimmermann is convinced that the wife had the strongest motive for the murder. Your car was also captured by one of the surveillance cameras in the underground car park at the time of the crime. However, Stubbe thinks that his son Bruno is the perpetrator, who admits to having regularly practiced target practice with his father's pistol. But he would not have killed him. Nevertheless, he is arrested, whereupon his mother confesses to the murder of her husband. Both assumed that the other had shot, but after forensic science was able to rule out Wehmann's pistol as a murder weapon, Stubbe followed another lead. He found out that Stemmler's father had arranged the financial transactions with Wehmann all by himself and was heavily to blame. When Stubbe tried to confront him, he had already swum out onto the Elbe to be "run over" by a ship. Werder Stubbe and Stemmler's son were able to prevent Stemmler from suicide. Stubbe learns from Stemmler's son that his father actually only wanted to force Wehmann to return the money to him by force of arms, which then escalated.

Subplot

Christiane Stubbe has established herself well with the private radio station. Her journalistic streak allows her to always address explosive topics that interest the listeners, which is why Christiane is becoming more and more popular. Nevertheless, she looks depressed and doesn't seem to be really happy about it. Helge is still trying to get Christiane's affection, but she blocks massively. after waiting in front of her door all night, she tells Helge that she is pregnant and that this is the reason for her upset. She does not make the decision easy to choose the child and Helge, but she is convinced by his persistence. When they both look at baby photos, Wilfrid Stubbe realizes that he is going to be a grandpa. But despite all the anticipation, Christiane suffers a miscarriage, which affects everyone very much.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv said: “The Saturday thrillers on ZDF can hardly be lumped together, and that's a good thing. But one thing unites them: every film guarantees a reunion with good friends. That is why, for example, 'Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall' is never just about solving a murder case, but always about interpersonal relationships; mostly within the family. This is not always harmoniously integrated and therefore sometimes looks like a foreign body. How to create an organic unity from both levels, even if the intersections are purely family-like and have nothing to do with the case, Peter Kahane shows again and again. "

The evangelisch.de wrote: “'companions' is a well-made episode.” “Without using cheap clichés, the characters involved are characterized in a few shots. The story may not sound extraordinary, but it is getting more and more depth. "

For the critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm , companions were “more for Stubbe fans than for crime fans” and gave the film a medium rating (thumbs to the side).
