Susanne Sterzenbach

Susanne Sterzenbach (* 1957 in Stuttgart ) is a German author , journalist , director and translator .

biography

Born in Stuttgart, she grew up on Lake Starnberg near Munich . In 1976 she passed her Abitur . In the following years Sterzbach studied at the universities in Mainz , Heidelberg , Paris , Avignon and Valencia , Department of graduate translators, as well as international law and geography . Finally, she graduated as a qualified translator for French and Spanish. In 1980, she began her training at ZDF , where she subsequently worked as a freelancer . From 1982 Sterzenbach was a freelance journalist and director for Südwestfunk and later for Südwestrundfunk . In 1994 Sterzenbach became the new head of the SWR editorial team, Blickpunkt Europa-Feature . She designed and produced many television reports and background reports from France , Spain and Portugal for programs such as Europa-Magazin or Blickpunkt Europa . These included, for example, the fifteen-part television series Everyday Stories or the seven-part series about centenarians in Europe under the title Faces of Europe . In 1999 and 2000 Sterzenbach took over the short-term representation of the correspondents in Studio Madrid and Buenos Aires , before she was ARD television correspondent in Algiers for three years from March 2001 and reported for ARD on Algeria , Morocco and Tunisia . In 2004 she returned to Stuttgart and worked again in the SWR headquarters, in the International / Europe department. She was also an editor for ARD- Feature and a foreign reporter .

In the 1990s , Sterzenbach also wrote several books for children and young people and was awarded the Heinrich Wolgast Prize by the Education and Science Union in 1996 for her work Alles im Kasten . After her stay in North Africa , she wrote the book The White Fathers: Mission in the Desert about Africa missionaries and Christianity in Africa , which was published in 2009.
