The Hahnenkoppel valley forest is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein town of Reinbek in the Stormarn district .

The approximately 33  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 197 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It was expelled in 1987 (date of regulation: July 7, 2004). The nature reserve is almost identical with the same name FFH area , and almost completely from the same conservation area surrounded. In the north-west it borders on the "Kronshorst" landscape protection area, and the "Oher Tannen" landscape protection area connects to the southeast. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Stormarn district.

The nature reserve is located northeast of Reinbek and Glinde within the Trittau state forest in the Lauenburger Geest. It protects part of the Hahnenkoppel as well as the course of the Hahnenbek, a natural tributary of the Bille , which flows through a trough-like valley cut into the Geest slope . A 1.7 hectare part of the forest area was designated as a natural forest cell Hahnenkoppel as early as 1982 and is left to its natural development.

The nature reserve is characterized by mixed forests. You can find chickweed oak and hornbeam forest , woodruff beech forest and hornbeam beech forest as well as in a strip along the stream wet forest stands with ash and alder. In places, moor birches falter with occurrences of pipe grass . Edge areas of the forest area are also characterized by coniferous forest . These areas are to be developed into natural forest communities. In the other areas of the nature reserve, forestry use has ceased. Forest hyacinth , golden nettle and witch's herb bloom in the forest area in spring . In the shrub layer there are u. a. Hawthorn , hazel, and ephemera .

The nature reserve is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Forests . A part of the area, which borders the federal highway 24 in the south , can be experienced through a hiking and a bridle path. There are information boards in several places.
