The Obere Herrenteich is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein town of Reinfeld (Holstein) and the municipality of Heidekamp in the Stormarn district .

The approximately 70  hectare nature reserve is registered with the number 182 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. The nature reserve lies between Reinfeld and Heidekamp. It includes the northern part of the Herrenteich in Reinfeld, the areas surrounding it and the lower area of the Heilsau that adjoins it to the north with the adjacent areas. The settlement areas along the roads, which essentially delimit the nature reserve, as well as an agricultural area on the municipal border with Heidekamp are excluded from the nature reserve. Since the beginning of the 1980s, the German Federation for Bird Protection and later the Nature Conservation Union Germany campaigned for the preservation of the valuable habitat at the Upper Herrenteich. As early as 1982, the Nature Conservation Union of Germany applied for the Upper Herrenteich to be designated as a nature reserve. In 1987 NABU acquired a 4.5 hectare property with alder quarries , wet meadows , hedgerows and dry grasslands and withdrew this from use. It was not until 1999 that today's nature reserve was designated, which has been looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Association of the German Nature Conservation Union since 2000.

The nature reserve is an important habitat for the bird world. In the reed areas, u. a. Ponds and sedge warbler , reed bunting , water rail and Spotted Crake before. The reed zones are also an important habitat for the Marsh Harrier . On the water surface of the pond u. a.
