The Ammersbek lowland is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein municipality of Ammersbek and the city of Ahrensburg in the Stormarn district .

The approximately 349 hectare nature reserve is registered under number 187 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization of the State of Schleswig-Holstein . It was designated in 2002 (date of regulation: May 29, 2002). Part of the nature reserve in the north is part of the FFH area "Hansdorfer Brook with Ammersbek". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Stormarn district.

The nature reserve is located northwest of Ahrensburg on the state border with Hamburg . In the west it borders on the nature reserve " Wohldorfer Wald " and in the north on the nature reserve " Duvenstedter Brook " and " Hansdorfer Brook ". Furthermore, it borders on the protected landscape area "Wohldorf / Ohlstedt" in the west and on the protected landscape area "Ammersbeck" in the south and north.

The reserve comprises the upper reaches of Ammersbek , a tributary of the Alster , with the source streams Bunsbach and Hunnau or Aue (also referred to as Bünningstedter Aue), its valley and the adjacent surfaces of swamp forests and lowland forest residues, quelligem wet grassland , kink and field trees, arable land , Fallows and the Reesenbüttel pond near Ahrensburg. The Ammersbek valley lies in a glacial channel in the transition between the young moraine and the glacial basin landscape. It presents itself as a semi-open landscape. The flowing waters often meander close to nature . Here come arrowhead , bur reed , water Star and pondweeds ago. At the of Hochstaudenfluren example, are occupied shores bindweed , meadowsweet and Wasserdost to find. Marsh marigolds and meadowfoam grow in wet meadow areas . The watercourses are habitat for numerous dragonflies and feeding grounds for kingfisher and gray wagtail . The wet meadows provide a habitat for the marsh warbler and reed bunting, and occasional whorls and corncracks also occur.

The nature reserve is crossed by roads in several places. The area is looked after by NABU Hamburg, the State Hunting and Nature Conservation Association Free Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Naturwacht Hamburg, the Hamburg Botanical Association and BUND Hamburg.
