Career
Hansen spent his junior years between 1993 and 1995 with the Tacoma Rockets in the Western Hockey League . After the striker had scored 54 points in his rookie year , he was selected in the third round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in 58th place by the then Winnipeg Jets from the National Hockey League . The power forward remained in the junior division for another year before making his debut in a game for the Jets in the NHL at the end of the 1994/95 season .
With the beginning of the 1995/96 season Hansen was in the squad of the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League . These cooperated as a farm team with the Winnipeg Jets. With the relocation of the Jets franchise from Winnipeg in Canada to Phoenix in the US in the summer of 1996, the Canadian became a member of the Phoenix Coyotes . There he played for the next five years for the farm team in Springfield, including the last two years between 1999 and 2001 as team captain . During this period, Hansen was repeatedly ordered into the Coyotes' NHL squad and played a total of 35 games. Most of them in the 1998/99 season , when he played 20 games. Due to an arm injury, the striker came in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 game years - the latter he spent in the service of the Hershey Bears from the AHL - only to a little more than 60 missions within the two years. Nevertheless, after he had fulfilled his one-year contract in Hershey, he found a new employer in the San Jose Sharks , who hired him as a free agent for two years. The Sharks used Hansen exclusively in the AHL on their Cleveland Barons farm team .
In the summer of 2004 Hansen left the North American continent and gained experience in Asia for a year. He joined the Japanese club Ōji Eagles , with whom he played in the Asia League Ice Hockey . He also won the All Japan Ice Hockey Championship , the Japanese cup competition, with the team . After only one year in Japan, the attacker moved to Europe, where he played for two years at the traditional Austrian club HC Innsbruck in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League . After the 2006/07 season , the 32-year-old declared his active career over.
