The TecArt CRM is a web-based business software . She comes from Germany and is multilingual. The program comprises the areas of customer relationship management (CRM), groupware and collaboration as well as contact and data management . The manufacturer is TecArt GmbH with headquarters in Erfurt. The software is hosted in a certified data center and programmed with PHP. It is available as closed source software against payment of license fees.

The system is based on a holistic approach and multifunctionality . The TecArt-CRM allows all data, information and processes in a company to be centralized and linked with one another by means of integration . Functionalities based on the modular principle and flexible user licenses enable an individual software solution that adapts to the current needs of a company.

A fundamental distinction is made between the product variants on-demand for rent and on-premise for purchase. The company software is being expanded further through additional features and connection options for external additional software. Mobile data retrieval and data synchronization between software and mobile devices are also possible.

History and program development

Around 2001, numerous communication and data management processes were relocated to the Internet. At that time, the medium-sized company TecArt was also faced with the challenge of networking its locations in Erfurt and Dresden and of optimizing business processes and customer relationship management. From this situation and specific requirement criteria, the idea of ​​independently programming a web-based CRM system developed. So in 2005 the version 1.0 of the TecArt CRM was created with the basic modules contacts, tasks, appointments, calls, documents and projects. The standard system has been continuously developed since then.

An important milestone in program development is the Trouble Ticket module, which was completed in 2009. In the following year the resource, duty and vacation planning was created. With version 3.2 of November 2010, the mobile TecArt push service was introduced. From version 3.5 from June 2012, WebDAV can be integrated into Windows Explorer. Mobile data retrieval via web app has been working since the end of 2012 as part of version 3.6. Version 3.7 also supports the synchronization of calendar and contact data with mobile devices or various apps via CalDAV and CardDAV .

The software solution has been in the Telekom Business Marketplace portal and in the Fujitsu Cloud Store since 2012 . She is also represented in the “Vodafone Enterprise Plenum”. Specific branch editions have existed since the beginning of 2013. Since the middle of this year, a calls app for Android has also been listed in the Google Play Store and the TecArt Starter can be found in the Windows 8 Store . The integration of " Tesseract OCR " followed in 2014 . The free text recognition program is one of the few platform-independent OCR engines. In the same year the software for billing software was expanded. This is made possible by the modules invoices, articles, offers, contracts and orders. At the end of the year, the development environment was converted to the ionCube PHP Encoder platform and PHP 5.5 server. A repositioning took place in 2015 due to technological developments and the large number of modules. The Thuringian company positions itself not only as a CRM provider, but also as a software manufacturer with all-in-one business software.

There has been its own add-on framework since 2016. This enables external developers to implement their own scripts, modules and applications.

Goals and areas of application

The TecArt CRM maps the areas of CRM, groupware or collaboration and data management. These offer a company advantages in terms of organization and efficiency of work processes. Company processes are comprehensively documented and presented transparently. Data is clearly displayed, linked with one another, always up-to-date and available everywhere. In this way, the quality of information is sustainably improved. An increased speed in data processing also has a positive effect on time management in the company. A networked team work reduces the additional workload in resource planning and simplifies cross-location collaboration. Administration and allocation of rights can be controlled centrally.

From a technical and application-specific point of view, the company software supports an independent and flexible approach in business management. The primary goals of using software are resource-saving work and cost savings. The central data storage and consistency in data storage enables a continuous build-up of company knowledge. Great importance is attached to ensuring data security and backup in this context.

The CRM system can be used in all departments of a company. It covers u. a. the application areas of customer and project management as well as personnel management. Users of the TecArt software are e.g. B. Authorities and administrations, municipal institutions, educational institutions, tax and financial consultants, the construction industry, media and communication companies, agencies, clubs and associations, wholesalers and retailers, architects and engineering offices, industrial companies, energy providers, IT and telecommunications -Sector , craft and service providers in areas such as finance, tourism, logistics, real estate, health or medicine.

IT infrastructure and system requirements

The company software can be installed on a customer or manufacturer's own Linux server . The hosting by TecArt takes place in a data center in Germany. This is certified according to ISO 27001 and has its own cluster . This full cluster capability serves to prevent system failures. The procedure for a high level of data security and failure security applies z. B. in case of server failures.

The TecArt CRM is used via a browser and therefore does not require any special system requirements. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Microsoft Internet Explorer are supported. The system acts independently of the number and type of end devices and the operating system used. It is up to the user whether he uses Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X or Linux. In addition, the software is compatible with common databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or MariaDB.

Product specifics and license model

According to the manufacturer's specifications, the software is offered for rent including hosting. This on-demand variant is also known as Software as a Service (SaaS) or cloud solution. Alternatively, the system can also be purchased. This on-premise variant is an in-house solution and must be installed on the customer's own servers . An external connection option is still possible.

The functionality of the CRM software comprises over 15 different modules . The basic equipment includes e-mail , contacts, appointments, tasks, documents. Other important functionalities can be found in the program u. a. in calls, projects, accounts , duty and vacation planning, a trouble ticket system as well as offers and contracts. All documents are saved for revision

The software manufacturer TecArt sells the three product packages Mobile, Company and Enterprise. The licenses always refer to the usage per user . In addition, various software services and assistance for users are offered in the service and support area. These include u. a. Updates , backups , training courses and webinars , operating manuals as well as a knowledge forum and developer wiki.

Data comparison and synchronization

Data currently available in a company can be transferred to the software via data import or with the help of a synchronization function (e.g. for Microsoft Outlook ). A constant connection or data export in the CSV standard are also possible. There are other standard connectors. a. to DMS as well as shop and ERP systems . Mobile data synchronization takes place between the software solution and common smartphones , tablets, etc. In this context, a TecArt push service with ActiveSync interface technology is used. The mobile data retrieval, on the other hand, is mapped via its own web application. Using the open protocols CardDAV and CalDAV, contact and calendar data from various systems can also be synchronized in vCard or iCalendar format .

Extensions

The objectives of using software are to avoid incompatible island solutions and to promote interoperable work . As part of this integration approach, external additional software can be connected via interfaces or web services. Examples of this are a trouble ticket web interface , the Starface connector for telephone systems or partner solutions for time recording as well as security and archiving . Its own additional features, such as an anti-virus program , a language editor, OCR text recognition and a messenger with a chat function, pursue the idea of ​​a central, cross-functional software solution.

Research and Development

The TecArt software is the subject of a new study by the TU Chemnitz on the subject of usability for medium-sized companies. The aim of the research is to develop a new method for the early integration of user friendliness in the course of the technical implementation of a software solution. In the joint project ATLAS CBRNE, important findings in the field of basic research were gained with the help of the CRM system. It was about the detection of safety-relevant animal diseases.

The software provides social support in the Telemedicine project of the Afghan-German Doctors' Association in Weimar. With their support, quick and easy emergency aid in Afghanistan by German specialists is made possible.
