The building at (today's) Vahrenwalder Straße 7 was built between 1912 and 1914 by the architect Peter Behrens for what was then Continental Caoutchouc- u. Gutta-Percha-Co. (later: Continental AG ) established. Due to the First World War , the administrative building could only be expanded during the Weimar Republic from 1919 to 1920. Since then, the building has been used by Continental AG as the main administrative headquarters.

The building was severely damaged in World War II. In the years of reconstruction , the architects Ernst Zinsser and Werner Dierschke built the Continental skyscraper on Königsworther Platz as the new headquarters of the “Conti” from 1952 to 1953 . The old administration building was rebuilt in major changes and later placed under monument protection.

In 1984 the city of Hanover acquired the administration building on Vahrenwalder Strasse for 16 million marks . After it was handed over to the municipal Union-Boden GmbH, it was initially used by the Technologiecentrum Hannover (TCH), where a number of companies such as Viscom or KoRiS started. “In 2007 the last phase of renovation began in close coordination with the monument protection department ”.
