Karl Heinrich Thassilo Krug von Nidda (born April 25, 1814 in Parey , † March 10, 1871 in Stettin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Thassilo came from the noble family Krug von Nidda . He was the son of District Deputy Friedrich Ludwig August Karl Krug von Nidda (1778–1836) and his wife Sophie Justine Emilie Wilhelmine, born von Spitaell von Krechting (1783–1842).

Military career

Nidda visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin and was then transferred to the 6th Cuirassier Regiment (called Kaiser of Russia) of the Prussian Army on August 10, 1831 as portepeef ensign. Promoted to Second Lieutenant there on August 11, 1832 , he was aggregated to the 8th Cuirassier Regiment on March 12, 1844 . From December 7, 1844 to June 8, 1848 Nidda was in command of the 4th Artillery Brigade and served in the 8th battery in Erfurt . During this time he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on July 16, 1846 . As leader of a squadron , he took part in the suppression of revolutionary unrest in Erfurt in November 1848 and was wounded in the hand. In the following campaign in 1849 against insurgents in Baden , Nidda was an adjutant in the combined division "Schack" and took part in the battle on the Federbach and the capture of Rastatt . Awarded the Order of the Red Eagle IV. Class with Swords for his achievements , Nidda was promoted to Rittmeister on November 13, 1849 and appointed squadron chief in the 8th Cuirassier Regiment. As a major and regular staff officer , he was transferred to the 9th Hussar Regiment in Trier on August 11, 1857 . During the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War , Nidda was commissioned to lead the 9th Landwehr Hussar Regiment. On May 12, 1860, he was commissioned to lead the 2nd Combined Dragoon Regiment. Shortly afterwards, on July 1, 1860, Nidda was appointed commander of the Magdeburg Dragoon Regiment No. 6 , whose staff was stationed in Schmiedeberg . In this function, on October 18, 1861, promoted to lieutenant colonel and on June 23, 1864 to colonel , Nidda was transferred with the regiment to the occupation troops in the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein in 1865 .

During the German War in 1866, Nidda took part in the " von Flies " brigade in the Main Campaign . As the leader of a combined cavalry brigade, consisting of two squadrons of the 10th Landwehr Hussar Regiment, one squadron of the 2nd Rhenish Hussar Regiment No. 9 and his previous Dragoon Regiment, he was deployed in the battle at the Hettstädter Höfe and had to do considerable work Take losses.

family

Nidda married Auguste Wilhelmine Georgine von Schack (1829-1914) in Mainz on August 1, 1850 . She was the daughter of the later Prussian general of the infantry Hans Wilhelm von Schack (1791–1866) and lady of honor of the Order of Louis . The son Hans Thassilo (born October 15, 1867 in Stettin) emerged from the marriage. Like his father, he embarked on an officer career in the Prussian army and made it to the rank of colonel.
