background

El Superbeasto is based on Rob Zombie's Spookshow International , a comic series by Rob Zombie, in which he features various film characters, such as Captain Spaulding (from House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects ), but also original characters. The film is full of allusions to genre films in the horror category . The wedding sequence is influenced by Carrie - Des Satan's Youngest Daughter and the giant Dr. Satan shows scenes from King Kong and the white woman . People from Rob Zombies' films can also be seen, including Captain Spaulding and Michael Myers from Halloween . Suzi X's voice was taken over by Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie .

In the German version, Martina Hill ( Switch reloaded ) took over the voice of Suzi X. Oliver Kalkofe spoke the leading role . The German version was released by Sunfilm in 2009 as a normal purchase version and as a limited pop-up edition. The film ran on German television on March 19, 2011 on the pay-TV channel Animax .

criticism

The animation technique is influenced by Ralph Bakshi , the partly very black humor from Ren & Stimpy . For many critics, the film fell short of expectations. So judged TV-Kult.com:

“Basically, chubby sayings, bare breasts, sexual innuendos, fecal language and excessive violence are lined up at a not particularly comfortable pace. Of course, all of this could work perfectly, but unfortunately no effort is made to achieve good timing and an appropriate dosage of the ingredients. Instead, the audience is given the whole package of 'El Superbeasto' on bread. "
