The Yards is an American drama film directed by James Gray from 2000.

The New York subway cars are serviced at a plant in Queens . The orders are awarded in a system of corruption in which Frank Olchin pulls the strings. Sometimes the competitor's works are sabotaged.

Leo Handler was innocent in prison. After his release he works for Olchin, who married his aunt Kitty. Willie Gutierrez helps him with this.

Handler is suspected of murdering a subway employee and assaulting a police officer. He flees and fights against the corruption network.

  • Desson Howe wrote in the Washington Post that the director lost the battle against the stupid script. The film looks like the pilot episode of a television series.
