Theodor Schulze (born August 19, 1831 ; † 1912 ) was a German bookseller , publisher , antiquarian and art dealer .

Life

Theodor Schulze came from Cottbus to Hannover before May 1, 1858 in the royal capital of the Kingdom of Hanover partnership Rümpler'schen range of action was, while the owner Carl Rümpler both the connected same publisher and the Antiquarian initially continue led still unchanged.

Schulze was a member of the Kunstverein Hannover and supported it for many years. In 1901, as a thank you, the Hanover Art Association gave Schulze a unique cabinet made of bird's eye maple , the front of which was decorated with four bronze panels with allegorical representations. After Schulze's death, the heirloom was passed on within his family to a great-granddaughter, who bequeathed the cupboard to the Masonic lodge Zum Schwarzen Bär in June 2014.

The publishing house, which was continued as a family business after Schulze's death , published the series Volksbücherei und Volksbildung in Niedersachsen from 1924 to 1937 . After the Second World War the publishing house was closed. The last edition was a German-English dictionary for the now British-occupied zone . The various bookstores and train station bookshops were continued by the fifth generation of the family until 2001. The art shop closed its doors in 2004.
