Tina Dico (born Tina Dickow in Aarhus- Åbyhøj on October 14, 1977 ) is a Danish pop singer and songwriter . In Denmark she appears under her maiden name Dickow , for the international market she chose the stage name Dico .

Life

When she was 15 she played for the first time in a band called Fester Kester . In 1997 she appeared in the Danish television series Karrusel . After graduating from school, she began studying religious studies at Aarhus University, but dropped out again and then studied at Det Jyske Conservatory of Music. In 1998 she won two talent competitions in Denmark, Talentspot and Vi har scenen, har I musikken? and released the single Your Waste of Time with her band Tina Dickow and Sheriff . She received several offers for record deals, but decided to start her own company, Finest Gramophone, to release her debut album .

In early 2002 she moved to London . There she worked with the band Zero 7 . She sang on the album When It Falls the title Home and The Space Between and accompanied the group on tour.

After their appearance at the New Pop Festival in Baden-Baden in September 2006, the album In the Red from the Universal Music Group label was released in Germany on October 6, 2006 . Warm Sand was released as the first single .

In September 2007 the studio album Count to Ten was released, which - like its predecessor In the Red in 2005 - took first place in the Danish album charts.

On 22 September 2008, initially appeared only in Denmark EP - Trilogy A Beginning, A Detour to Open Ending, that went immediately to No. 2 in the Danish album chart. After three weeks, the work in Denmark was already honored with a gold record . The first release date in Germany was April 3, 2009. In November 2009 Dico moved from London to Copenhagen . In the same year she contributed the music to the film Old Boys and released the album The Road to Gävle.

In September 2010 the double album Welcome Back Color was released in Germany . It is a compilation with a few new titles and a selection of the best-known titles from previous albums, some in new interpretations. On this occasion, Dico gave 14 concerts in German cities between October 3 and October 21, as well as an additional concert in the Gloria Theater in Cologne on October 22, 2010.

She has been living in Seltjarnarnes , a suburb of the Icelandic capital Reykjavík , since 2012 at the latest , together with the Icelandic musician Helgi Jónsson (* 1979). She first met him in 2008; They became a couple two years later and got married in July 2014. Their son was born in July 2012 and their daughter was born in January 2014. The two have their own studio in their house in Seltjarnarnes, where - five years after Dico's last studio album Count to Ten from 2007 - the album Where Do You Go to Disappear? The album Whispers was released in August 2014 , it is the soundtrack to the film En du elsker , directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen . After a tour in Denmark, she also toured Germany nine times with the album in November. In December 2014 she published En Håndfuld Danske on Spotify , a compilation of six cover versions by Danish artists Ulige Numre, Suspekt, Medina , Kim Larsen , Pia Raug and TV-2 .

In May 2015, she first released the single Spark as a video, later also as a single download . Later in the year the song was released as a bonus track on a new edition of the last album Whispers . The track Ask Again , the story of her marriage proposal, which has since been released as a video , also appeared on this album. In autumn 2015 Dico was on tour in Germany for 13 concerts, in December she appeared again after 2009 on the show Inas Nacht . Her first songbook with lyrics and chords for 37 of her songs was published for the tour.

In spring 2016 she toured Germany again with her album Whispers . In the following autumn and spring 2017, she performed as a bassist and background singer at 14 concerts in her husband's band Helgi Jónsson.

In the summer of 2017 she played at several festivals in Denmark and at the same time began to write her autobiography Tæl til Tina , which was published in Denmark in November 2017. She also played two solo tours in Denmark for the 10th anniversary of her album Count to Ten . She played her only own appearance in Germany in December 2017 at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

In October 2018 she released the album Fastland (Danish for "mainland"), which she recorded and produced in the first half of the year, supported by her husband Helgi Jónsson. The album was released on both CD and vinyl; There was also a limited box containing the CD as well as an edition of the autobiography, which has now been translated into German. In Germany the book is called Count To Ten . In July she performed at the Danish Crown Prince's birthday party, where she played Adams House , a piece composed especially for the occasion . On October 15, 2018, she began her 11-concert tour of Germany for the album in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, after she had already performed a few appearances at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in the summer.
