The 2nd stage of the Tour de France 2019 took place on July 7, 2019. The stage was held as a team time trial over 27.6 kilometers with start and finish in Brussels .

Race course

The stage started on the east side of the Warandepark near the Royal Palace from 2:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the reverse order of the general team ranking at the end of the first stage. The finish line was at the Atomium .

Order and start time of the teams

Winner of the day was Team Jumbo Visma of Steven Kruijswijk . His team-mate Mike Teunissen not only defended the yellow jersey , he was able to increase the gap. His team-mate Wout Van Aert took over the white jersey . The Jumbo-Visma team was able to further expand their lead in the team standings. Team Ineos of last year's winner Geraint Thomas finished second, 20 seconds behind . Deceuninck-Quick-Step was third of the day, 21 seconds behind. According to the regulations, the stage result resulted from the time of the fourth driver of the team at the finish. For the team classification , this time was multiplied by four. The first four drivers of the team received the team's time in the overall standings; the other drivers the time actually driven.
