The 7th stage of the Tour de France 2019 took place on July 12, 2019. The 230-kilometer flat stage led from Belfort to Chalon-sur-Saône . It was the longest stage of this tour. The stage start was at 11:20 a.m. at the Marché Fréry market hall in Belfort, the sharp start was at 11:39 a.m. at Banvillars .

Race course

Immediately after the sharp start, a two-man top group formed from Yoann Offredo and Stéphane Rossetto . The duo covered over 200 kilometers before they were caught up again about 10 kilometers from the finish. With the exception of a serious fall by Tejay van Garderen and a fall by Nicolas Roche , the stage was uneventful - both riders reached the stage finish.

The stage win was decided by a mass sprint in the photo finish. Dylan Groenewegen was the stage winner who crossed the finish line a few centimeters before Caleb Ewan . Peter Sagan took 3rd place, while Elia Viviani , who was put in a very good starting position by his teammates, only came 6th. Sonny Colbrelli and Jasper Philipsen reached the finish line before Viviani. Offredo was named the most combative driver of the stage.
