Tristan Schwandke (born May 23, 1992 in Würzburg , Bavaria ) is a German athlete who specializes in hammer throwing.

childhood and education

Tristan Schwandke was born as the only child of Elmo and Sabine Schwandke in Würzburg. Both parents are connected to sport. The father was active in athletics , weightlifting and karate . The mother, sports and gymnastics teacher, became German runner-up in bodybuilding in Hanover in 1987 .

After finishing primary school in Kürnach , Schwandke and his parents moved to Bad Hindelang in the Allgäu . There he attended the nine-stage high school in Sonthofen from 2002 to 2011 , where he graduated from high school in March 2011 . He then studied mechanical engineering at the University of Kempten , where he obtained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering ( B.Eng. ) In 2017 .

Sporting successes

Schwandke has been a member of TV Hindelang 1893 since 2002 . There he began with the all-around competition under the leadership of Josef Zillibiller, who brought him closer to the hammer throw.

In 2007 he won the bronze medal in hammer throw at the German U18 Championships in Ulm .

In 2009 Schwandke became German U18 youth champion for the first time in Rhede . He was German youth champion from 2009 to 2011. He won a total of 12 medals at German youth championships. In 2009 he took part in the U18 World Championships in Brixen (Italy) and in 2010 at the U20 World Championships in Moncton ( Canada ). In 2011 Tristan Schwandke was able to achieve his greatest success to date, 7th place at the U20 European Championships in Tallinn ( Estonia ) with the 6 kg throwing hammer. That year he also won the German U20 title in Jena with 72.70 m.

In addition, Schwandke is Allgäuer and Swabian record holder in the hammer throw discipline. With his current best performance of 72.57 meters (7.26 kg / hammer throw tournament Zuchering May 2019) he holds the Allgäu and Swabian records. Since 2016 Schwandke works with a team of trainers from the club LC Brühl Athletics from St. Gallen together. His coaches there are Wolfgang Kötteritzsch and his son Björn Kötteritzsch.

In 2018, Schwandke succeeded in becoming the International German Champion in lawn power sports for the first time in Dischingen , after finishing third in 2017 in Fränkisch-Crumbach . He also won the silver medal at the German Athletics Championships in Nuremberg in 2018 . There he has so far improved his personal best to 70.88 m.

In 2019, Schwandke climbed over three meters to 74.03 m at the top athletics meeting in Lucerne and became German champion for the first time at the Berlin finals . A few days later Schwandke came at the European team championships in Bydgoszcz with the team on the silver rank, to which he contributed with a 7th place in the individual.

Professional success

Tristan Schwandke since 2018 working as a researcher at the Research Allgäu for driver assistance systems and autonomous driving of the University of Kempten . There he works as a designer . In his research for its Bachelor he analyzed the dependence of the stress development of a driver of the vehicle dynamic parameters of the vehicle . He investigated how the driver's stress develops due to vehicle reactions during certain driving maneuvers.
