Ust-Bolscherezk ( Russian Усть-Большере́цк ) is a village (Selo) in the Kamchatka Region ( Russia ) with 2116 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is located near the southwest coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula , about eight kilometers from the Sea of Okhotsk on the right bank of the Amchigacha River. To the south, a flat valley extends for several kilometers, which is traversed by a number of branches of the Bolshaya River, which are also connected to the Amchigacha. Ust-Bolscherezk is located about 160 kilometers as the crow flies west of the regional administrative center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky .
It is the administrative center of the Ust-Bolsheetsk district of the same name .
history
The Russian settlement of this part of the Kamchatka Peninsula began with the construction of the Bolsheetsky Ostrog about 20 kilometers upstream from today's Ust-Bolsheetsk in 1703.
The current place was created in 1911 in connection with the establishment of a telegraph line . The name refers to the location near the mouth (Russian ustje ) of the river Bolschaja ( Bolschaja reka for "big river"). In 1932, Ust-Bolscherezk became the administrative center of a newly created district.

Economy and Infrastructure
The main industry is fishing, mainly for salmon . Agriculture for local needs is practiced in the area (potato cultivation and livestock farming). Tourism is of minor but increasing importance.
Ust-Bolscherezk is connected to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky by a road that branches off about 100 kilometers west of the regional capital from the “main road” of the peninsula, the R454 to Ust-Kamchatsk . From Ust-Bolscherezk it continues to the coast and then south to the Oktyabrsky settlement 25 kilometers away on a spit .
