Vítězslav Tuma (born July 4, 1971 in Nový Jičín , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech football player .

Career

Vítězslav Tuma began playing football in his native town with TJ Nový Jičín. At the age of 18, the 1.90 meter tall striker moved to FC Vítkovice. In 1991 he went to VTY Znojmo to do his army service there. From there Tuma moved to the Sabah Rhinos in the Malaysian league, where his compatriot Jaroslav Netolička played. After only one season Tuma returned to FC Vítkovice , but stayed again for only one year. He was signed by local rivals Baník Ostrava, where he only scored four goals in 26 games in one and a half seasons. In the winter break of 1995/96 Tuma went to SK LeRK Prostějov in the second division.

The breakthrough came the Wandervogel only at his next station in the 1996/97 game year, the FC Karviná, for which he scored ten goals in 21 games. The center forward could not prevent the descent of his team. Tuma had a sensational run in the second division, scoring 19 goals in 22 games. He was then signed by the first division team Petra Drnovice and did not disappoint. In the 1998/99 and 1999/2000 seasons he scored eleven goals each. In the 2000/01 season Tuma was at the height of his career, with 15 goals he was the top scorer in the Czech House of Lords.

Although Tuma was one of the best strikers in the Czech league in those years, he was not called up to the national team. On the one hand, the strong competition from players like Jan Koller , Vratislav Lokvenc and Vladimír Šmicer spoke against him, on the other hand his comparatively old age. At the age of 30, he was no longer considered a perspective player.

In the summer of 2001, Tuma reached an agreement with the Chinese association Lifan Chongqing that would guarantee him US $ 20,000 a month. He flew to China, but contrary to previous agreements, he was supposed to complete two-week tests. Tuma refused and returned to the Czech Republic . In the 2001/02 season he scored nine goals in 19 games for Drnovice before he was sold a few weeks before the end of the season for financial reasons along with eight other players to Marila Příbram , who loaned him to Sparta Prague . In Prague Tuma could not prevail and played in Příbram from mid-2002 , where he did not even make it into the starting line-up. During the winter break of 2002/03 it was sold to Sigma Olomouc , but it could no longer match its old form there either. In the summer of 2003 Tuma finally moved to his former club FK Drnovice , which now played in the second division. Tuma contributed four goals to the promotion of his team, but retired after that season due to persistent problems with his left knee.
